Resilience and Self Esteem

Resilience – why is this important?

At The Discovery School, we believe that resilience is vital, both in a child’s attitude to their education and to life outside of school. Resilience in the classroom encourages our learners to become people that respond to challenges and setbacks as a positive part of their educational journey. When children have resilience, they are open to all learning because they hold that belief that they can learn. They respond effectively to constructive criticism and are aware that effort is as important as the final goal.

In the long-term, resilience leads to:

  • Improved academic achievement
  • Less sickness and improved physical health
  • Reduction in risk-taking behaviours
  • Increased community involvement
  • Improved relationships

At The Discovery School, we inspire all of our learners to have a resilient attitude to their learning, development and relationships.
