Welcome to Faraday Class!

Faraday class is a Year 1 class taught by myself, Miss Ashton and supported by the brilliant Mrs Catt. We are located at the end of the KS1 area between Darwin and Newton class.

Year 1 provides children with the opportunity to become more independent learners and to acquire the skills needed in order for them to succeed in KS1. As a team we aim to work together to create a caring and safe learning environment, we encourage children to be independent, inquisitive and to work hard but most importantly enjoy their learning in order to develop their natural thirst for knowledge.

Finally, if you have any messages at the start of the school day, please contact the school office who will pass on the message to myself or Mrs Catt. Alternatively, you can email me on hashton@discovery.kent.sch.uk. For any other questions or concerns please pop in and talk to us at the end of the school day.

Homework

Children are expected to read daily as part of their homework. Reading books are changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, therefore it is essential that your child’s yellow reading record book AND reading books are in school on these days, however we recommend that your child brings in their reading book and record everyday as we often read with children throughout the week. Please ensure that you record that your child has read in their yellow reading records as we will be celebrating the children who have read every day on a Friday and will display their photos on the classroom door.  You may also use these books to communicate with us at any point and please do let us know if you feel your child is finding the books too easy/difficult so we can make any necessary changes.

PE

PE days are subject to change and therefore it is essential that ALL children have the correct kit in school at all times. We suggest that you send your child in with their PE kit on a Monday so they are available throughout the school week and we will send them home at the end of term.

Inside PE kit consists of a red t-shirt, blue shorts and plimsolls.

Outside PE kit consists of a blue tracksuit (jogging bottoms and a jumper) socks and trainers. Earrings need to be taped up for health and safety reasons.

Without the correct PE kit, children will be unable to take part.
