Einstein Class is one of three Early Years classes at The Discovery School. The class teacher is Miss Harris and the teaching assistant is Miss Campbell. Mrs Isitt is another teaching assistant who often supports the children in Einstein Class. You can find Einstein class at the end of the KS1 corridor. Donald Duck is also a very important member of the class!
In the Early Years Foundation Stage we ensure children learn through playing and exploring, by active learning and by creating and thinking critically. We support the children to develop and acquire skills and knowledge in the seven areas of learning and development: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Communication and Language, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
The Early Years Foundation Stage at The Discovery School is an exciting place to be! We spend our time learning through play and having lots of fun! We make use of our outside area as much as possible. Sometimes the teachers lead our learning and sometimes we learn through Plan, Do, Review (or PDR). PDR is the children's time to choose what they would like to do. The outside area and the three Early Years classrooms are set up to encourage and promote children's learning during PDR time. It is a time for children to extend their learning from previous teacher led sessions whilst playing with their friends from Einstein, Jenner or Newton Class. Towards the end of each PDR session the children review and reflect on what they have been playing and learning.
We do lots of interesting things throughout the year. We have Stay and Play sessions, dressing up days, farm visits, we perform a Nativity Play and have Forest School sessions. We also take part in all the special theme weeks at The Discovery School. At the end of the school year we celebrate the children's successes and hold a graduation ceremony.
All of the classes at The Discovery School are named after famous people and we are named after Albert Einstein, the famous physicist. You can learn all about Albert Einstein by using this link: http://www.amnh.org/exhibitions/einstein . This is why our class teddy bear, who goes home with children throughout the year, is also called Albert!

Show and Tell
In Einstein Class the children are able to bring in anything they would like for Show and Tell. Our aim is for the children to be talking confidently in front of their peers. Please send in something that is not valuable or holds any sentimental value in case it is lost or broken. Also, please ensure you have talked about it with your child first as they will need to be able to answer questions about their special object. (for example: days out with family)
Show and Tell days for our class groups are:
