School Uniform

We are proud of our school uniform and encourage the children to feel proud to belong to The Discovery School. All children will be expected to wear the correct school uniform at all times, and we value highly the commitment of parents in ensuring that our children are correctly dressed for school. Items with the school motif can be purchased from Pages or School Trends, contact details are listed below. Please name all clothing and personal items.

Jewellery/Accessories

Children are not allowed to wear rings, necklaces, bracelets or looped earrings at school. The school can accept no liability for the loss of any personal property.

Only small, plain stud style ear-rings are to be worn. These items can also cause injuries in such lessons as physical education. As most pupils have some physical activity almost every day, earrings will have to be removed frequently. If you are planning to have your child’s ears pierced, please make sure that it is at the beginning of the summer holiday, otherwise the ear will have to be taped during Physical Education - including swimming. Staff are not permitted to remove children’s earrings, so please make sure that your child is able to do this independently.

A watch may be worn by the children if they are able to read the time.  Please note that watches with the capacity to record, send messages, access the internet or take photographs are not permitted in school.

The school can accept no liability for the loss of any personal property.

Long hair should be tied back and only small, neat hair accessories may be worn. Nail varnish is not permitted. Hair decorations should be discreet and ideally be in the school’s colours.  Make up, nail varnish or dyed hair is not considered acceptable for school.
